Children’s Advanced Swimming

butterfly01.jpg

This course consists of 7 x 45-minute, highly-structured training sessions. It is for children aged 8 and upwards.

It gives the opportunity to develop and refine stroke technique and to improve stamina but also to learn and develop aspects of competitive swimming and basic water safety. A range of games are included which enliven the classes and increase social interaction as well as reinforcing the water skills being learnt.

Basically to sum up, children must be competent in 3 of the 4 main competitive strokes (i.e. freestyle, breast stroke and back crawl). The fourth competitive stroke developed in advanced swimming classes is the butterfly. They must also be able to swim and tread water safely. Our pool is 2m deep at the deep end

Children should also be competent in side stroke, as apart for the butterfly, stroke technique is not taught in this class.

If you are unsure of your child’s ability, a pre-assessment can be arranged. Please email info@the waterschool.ie orcontact 086 810 9071.

Advanced classes are run at the following times in 7 weeks sets (Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/Jun, Sep/Oct, Nov/Dec)

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 18:10

  • Saturday: 15:10

Contact us at info@thewaterschool.ie if you would like to get your child into lessons with us. We will be very happy to assist. Please include your child’s full name, availability, date of birth and your contact details.
