Learn to swim at The Water School
Our specialist team of friendly swimming instructors offer everything from Children’s swimming lessons to Adult swimming classes and Water Safety You can also have a look at our Swimming with a Disability or Illness page for more information.
Our Children’s lessons consist of four different levels being taught by four different teachers simultaneously, a beginner one (Seahorses), beginner two (Otters), the improvers (Salmon) and a deep end (Dolphins). This means that we can teach children of different abilities at the same time, which can be convenient for families with children of different ages.
Our Adult lessons are made up in the same way as the children’s classes but with only one beginners section, an improvers section and a deep end class, each with its own instructor.
We run Water Safety courses for both Adults and Children, all of which are run by IWS (Irish Water Safety) qualified instructors and to IWS syllabuses.
Our aim is to ensure that as many people as possible (of all ages) have the opportunity to become competent swimmers and life savers. In an area like West Cork, full of rivers and lakes and surrounded by the sea, we believe swimming is an essential skill.
The water-based tourism/leisure industry is a growing part of West Cork’s economy too, and we want people working in it to be safe and confident.
